Richard and his whole Team including Construction Foreman, Patrick did a great job on our complex build; a renovation and major expansion of an old Victorian era terrace house in Fitzroy North. The quality of the trades was excellent and the employees were friendly and helpful. The project was done in the middle of Covid lock downs but were still able to get the project done in a reasonable time period and within scope and budget. Our journey has been a long and tricky one, but Housespec stuck by us the whole time. We had plans drawn up to convert our garage into a semi self contained space. What we didn’t expect was the difficulty we would face trying to get permits and approvals from council etc for the project. Richard and his team helped come up with the solutions that we needed. Once the build started, we were blown away with the quality of the trades - in particular Andy the plumber, Glenn the sparky, and Jarrod the all rounder (plus the painter, carpenter, kitchen builder/installer, tiler and flooring installers). We used Housespec Builders for a knockdown rebuild of our old weatherboard house in Oakleigh and could not be happier with our modern Hamptons style dream home. Having never built or renovated before we feel incredibly lucky that we chose Housespec for the project. What a team, Richard, Andrew and Patrick our Project Manager were all wonderful to deal with. We were kept updated throughout the whole build and provided with progress photos. Patrick was amazing and we appreciated his knowledge and advice. A friend recommended Housepec to us when, as complete novices, we wanted to build two units in our block of land in Croydon. Housepec was very quick and competitive in their quote to us. But what sold us was Andrew. We met him and knew we could trust this man. And he did not disappoint us. Covid did make things a little difficult towards the end of the build with all its restrictions and delays but it took little away from what Andrew and his team delivered. We are really enjoying our two units now. We were very impressed with Andrew’s prompt responsiveness in every situation. Rain or shine, sickness or health, new born baby or sleepless nights, he was always there; extremely accomodating, helpful and gave very practical and honest advices. Having very little idea what we were doing, we must have driven Andrew up the wall sometimes! But his patience was exemplary. We are so very grateful. Without his guidance, patience and understanding, it would have been a difficult build for us. We had the pleasure to meet Richard and Patrick, the other members of the team as well. We were equally impressed with these two. Hardworking, warm and pleasant, they were absolute professionals. What a team (A Team) they make! It’s not often you meet a team where every member is as excellent as the other. They were also extremely helpful and experienced in dealing with the authorities and took care of everything for us. Our land had a few difficult technical problems and they were able to solve them with Council and Utility Authorities with minimum headache for us. Towards the latter part of the build, we were more in contact with Patrick. What an absolute asset he is; to Housepec we are sure. The man works SO hard, can remember a million and one thing and when he promises you something, he delivers. Housespec recently built our new home in Ivanhoe. The site had very narrow access, which some builders wouldn't even consider. Housespec was fabulous. They kept the site very clean, were considerate of the neighbours and did great job navigating through all the issues associated with Covid (supply, lockdowns etc). The quality of the build is very good - they clearly take pride in their work. They are always happy to talk through changes and suggestions and I found them to be very reasonable in this regard. I would definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone considering a new build.

The team at HouseSpec managed and delivered a wonderful house build project for us.Communication was impeccable, coordination of tradesmen and supplies was very impressive and they moved confidently through the numerous build stages. Andrew and Richard were able to assist us through a difficult time in our project and provide advice to enable us to progress to an end point. I engaged Housespec to carry out extensive renovations inside and outside. The trades people engaged were of a very high quality and well managed by the project manager. They took care to be clean and respectful. The quality of the work was very high and price competitive. When difficulties arose they responded quickly and effectively and remedied any defects without question. I could not recommend them any more highly. Richard and Patrick were amazing to work with for our tiny home renovation in Richmond. Their extensive experience allowed them to give us advice on all parts of the build including small details which really make the house look spectacular. When I was looking to build for the first time, I spoke to three building companies. However it was Andrew and Richard from Housespec that impressed me and put me at ease right from the word go. Highly recommended! Reliable, flexible, and very patient! We have contacted many builders for our 1st building project, but only Andrew from Housepac, provided the best prompt communication, details quotation with a fair price, and patiently answer all our questions throughout the build. Our project is definitely not a easy one for our 1st attempt, but Andrew & Richard are able to come up with solutions to minimize extra cost. Their trademen are all first class and easy to due with. My friends all very impressed with their workmanship. The after build services are great too! They will follow up promptly any problems or repairs if needed. I think we might have given it up, or cost much more and longer to finish the build without the help of Housepac. Definitely would build it again with Housepac!

I have done 3 build projects with HOUSESPEC builders, ranging from new residential unit developments and a renovation of a dental clinic (see pictures attached). I have found Richard and Andrew both to be very prompt, reliable, flexible, fair and approachable. I would not hesitate to use them again and am very happy with the final result. Building and renovating comes with many challenges and you need to be able to deal with people who are fair, reliable and honest. Both Richard and Andrew are these kinds of people. And no, I didn't get paid to do this review. It is a genuine reflection of my experience with them so far.
